I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, “It’s all in your head.” And it’s so very true. My days are either wonderful or horrible, depending on whether or not my head is in a good mental space.
Actively practicing gratitude has completely changed my life. There have been mornings where my alarm doesn’t go off, I’m late for work, I forget my lunch, and the day typically spirals downwards. If I start my day negatively, it tends to end that way.
I’ve learned to stop that negative pattern by thinking of every single thing I’m grateful for in my world. How do you practice the art of gratitude, you ask? It’s quite simple. Open your mind to everything that’s around you. The simplest of things, like running water, can be something you show gratitude towards.
I write in a journal every day, and list the people, places, and things that I was grateful for throughout the day. It’s been a great way to end my day, and it helps me keep my mind focused throughout the day, to be looking for gratitude.
If you’re thankful for every little thing, you’ll find that more things to be grateful for will begin to show up.
What’s something you’re grateful for today?
